My kid just WhatsApped from his German exchange trip. They had to call an ambulance for him.
He has food poisoning, was very pale and nauseous. He was dehydrated and his blood pressure was dropping.
He's fine now but I wanted to share this because it has the most Western Europe Is a Civilized Place ending ever.
The paramedics came to the mall, took him into the ambulance, gave him an IV, checked him out, stayed with him until he felt better, then told him "No charge. Enjoy your trip to Germany." And if that wasn't enough, when they realized the group had had to move onto the train station without him, they gave him a ride over there to catch up with them.
I'm so ground down by the predatory realities of America in general in 2025 that this just about blew my fucking mind.

Brauche was mit 5V/>=3A (USB-C oder Hohlstecker) und 12V/>=3A Kapazität erstmal nachrangig die Dinger sind günstig genug um den Akku zu erweitern ;)

Meine Tochter hat für ein Projekt mit zwei Grundschulklassen beim örtlichen Bäcker nach Resten, die Abends weggeworfen werden, angefragt.
Das Bild gibt es nicht ganz wieder, aber das hätte wohl auch für 10 Klassen gereicht. Locker > 500,-- Verkaufspreis. Alles "über". 😳

Ich habe selbst einmal eine Zeit Dispo für ein Brotregal in einem kleinen Supermarkt gemacht. Optimal gelaufen ist es, wenn beim Frischbrot morgens noch genau eine Packung übrig ist. Keiner ist leer ausgegangen, und trotzdem wenig Retoure...
Leider konnte ich solche Reste nicht in einen 50%-Korb packen, das wäre mir noch lieber gewesen...

Jup aber Plastik passt hier nicht, die sollen in meine Schränke im Wohnzimmer, da past Metall zu Metall besser, hab den tip bekommen nach DDR-Lagerboxen zu schauen die gefallen mir und sind noch recht günstig.

(German healthcare of course costs money, but is then free/cheap at the point of care. Most people pay 14.6% of their gross salary, deducted automatically. Sounds like a fair bit of money, but I consider it an excellent deal.)

In Germany we don't have a lot to be proud of - but our social market economy is at least something. While the health system is by far not perfect (we essentially have a two-class system with public health and private health) I feel like we're doing the right thing here.
