First, these solutions have technical and legal requirements that will create a digital exclusion problem for some people. For example, the EU age verification app requires a smartphone and some ID documentation to enroll.
Second, the anonymous age verification methods are really easy to circumvent. With the EU app, a QR code must be scanned to do the age check, but it is impossible to check whether this is done by the actual user or someome else.

How convenient that this way Big Tech behemoths like Meta, X and TikTok won't have to change a thing. (Don't get me started about Grok, which should have been banned MONTHS ago).
AGE isn't the problem. It's the TOXIC, PREDATORY, EXTRACTIVE nature of these platforms that is the real issue.

The best argument in my opinion to get people on board that aren't tech savvy is to show them that this doesn't even work. Because Australia has shown it doesn't.

It's wild how quickly everyone just fucking drops everything when "think of the children" argument is involved.
I fear how restricted internet will become when I'll refuse to "verify" my identity online. Because the whole thing stinks of speech control and how people think and has very little to do with safety of children. There is many ways to do that and none of them picked those options or methods.

The other problem is that most of the people don't even know about those law being discussed (chat control, age verifaction) until is too late. This is all well and good but until someone actually has the nous to say HOW to protect children from horrific socially destructive online content (other than tell the parents to isolate kids from their peers and peers culture) the arguments will, rightly, fall on deaf ears. Seriously harmful content for children online exists and its prolific. Age verification is of course a dangerous Trojan horse and must be opposed, but people will risk that when no alternative is proposed.

it's not just age verification. it's a total war on privacy and most people don't give a fuck at all.
for example, in greece, there was a massive wiretapping scandal caused by the government (the prime minister himself has been managing the state's intelligence agency) who was using spyware to spy on journalists, politicians and potentially thousands of citizens for "national security" reasons.
except from very few people who spoke out from the very beginning when people started finding out that they were under surveillance, nobody gave a fuck until the leader of an opposition party and other politicians in the government were found out to be under surveillance as well.
a few years have passed i doubt anyone still gives a fuck, except from the people who were against it from the very beginning. and the same government is still running the damn country, without any serious repercussions.

@eff@mastodon.socialWell, my folks possibly don;t even know about this, but in the chance they do, well, not sure what I can send them, they would much rather believe that online friendship does not exist. That all of it is a scam. (or, if not all then most of it). Most of my friends are, perhaps, just scammer, and they keep asking me how do I know they aren't, and so on. I could almost swear the generation from the 80s, born in here definitely thinks this way, for it's not just my folks, but some of their friends too, possibly.
I suggested to my MP that perhaps schools could run their own fediverse server ... younger students would only be able to chat to their year group (plus teachers), older students could reach out to other students in other schools.
Problem is not age, but toxic algorithms. They affect you no matter how old you are. The easiest way to protect people (not only children) would be to prohibit these algorithms which cause addiction. Could be so simple and easy. But I suppose there’s a huge lobby trying to prevent this.

Interesting though that Carrot here is all curled up like it's a cooler day. Sam sprawls out on hot summer days (especially as being a Russian Blue, he has a double coat that's like a rug).

Somebody needs to brush up on her ice and wind spells. Hot weather's no trouble when you've got a big block of ice in your house and a firm breeze circulating the air around.
Fun fact: some large buildings have huge blocks of ice in their basements, which they generate by freezing water with refrigeration powered by cheap nighttime electricity. The ice is then used to cool the building during the day. This will probably go away when solar power becomes more common, but still neat.

I can't proof if or if not it is Ai, it feels AI. I can't pinpoint what. The background is reasonably consistent, eyes and hands seem okay too and the details match between panels.

Don't get me wrong nothing against the artist (as long as they actually didn't use Ai) just pointing out that due to how it feels to me I just don't like it. Again I might be just paranoid and they are 100% legit and I am just being weird.
This is not a 1 time situation. I find myself often double checking if the Art is human made because I was wrong a few times in both ways. Misjudging an Ai slop as human art bacause I missed some details that are obvious now, or thinking sth is Ai when it is not and I am just paranoid.
I would lie saying I spot it immediately everytime. I don't. It takes sometimes 2 or 3 close looks. And it sucks. That's why I at this point not really look for new artists I like and rather stick to once I know hate Slop atleast half as much as I do

I was frustrated by your statement as well, not because you're not allowed to feel that way or because you are wrong/a bad person, but because I hate what widespread AI usage leads to; even if you're not using AI yourself, you can't be sure as easily as before.

I got a nipple pierced for 7 years. It is great, recommend. I didn't loose sensation, on the contrary 😏Moreover, the use of nipple clamp is tougher 😉.

I've had my nips pierced for maybe 6-7 years now. i got them pierced a couple years post top surgery (where i generally regained sensation, but still not back to where i was pre-top), so they probably weren't as painful as they would be for other folks - and they still HURT. worst or second worst of my piercings, up there with ear cartilage. immediate healing wasn't bad but i had to kind of baby them for quite a while after iirc for low level complications (annoying stuff like discharge or mild bleeding, but never the kind of thing that required a doctor or anything).
like the other commenter, i can't speak to loss of sensation - def talk to an experienced piercer (if you're in Seattle by any chance i have a rec).
personally i love mine but I'm not 100% on recommending getting them bc i know getting them post top probably biased my pain experience, plus the low level complications i mentioned. that said i do lean towards reccing them :)

depending on your loved one's top surgery type, they may have VERY different experiences and results from me tbf! i had what is called periaereolar, which is a nipple stalk preserving surgery (aka, the nipples are not removed and re-grafted). grafted nipples are slower to regain sensation if at all, and will (anecdotally I've noticed) often be flatter (mine are really prominent). still piercable though!

a smidge more info - nipple stalk preserving surgeries are only available for some chest sizes! so don't expect that the full range of surgeries is automatically available

I've had piercings for uhh... at least like 5 years? (photos on my timeline, I love showing my tits on the internet, so let me know if you need more :P) I don't know how high is the risk of losing sensation so I can't speak of that. For me it healed pretty quickly, IIRC it was like 3 weeks?
And yea, they're nice in general, just make sure you have some backups because sometimes you can lose a part if it's not screwed tight enough ;p

definitely recommend, got a single barbell (1.6) in each and came back to get crosses not too long after.
Didn’t lose sensation. Healing felt like it was fast but it was more than 10 years ago ^^
Only this year did I remove the vertical ones.
I didn’t get them horizontal/vertical but slightly askew. Don’t know if that’s the best for long term but I preferred that, for the horizontal ones at least.

I had a vertical clit hood piercing many years ago, then went too long without anything in (heh) and it healed up :(
But if I had it again I'd probably get a horizontal clit hood to have a little ring in it. And be able to attach a trigger clip etc.

Hey! So, I have both nipples pierced with barbells. I did experience a slight loss of sensitivity at first, especially while they were healing.
But it’s much better now and I’ve regained all my sensation. You just need to be very gentle at the beginning and sort of relearn how to touch and stimulate them.
That said, they were some of the most painful piercings I’ve ever had done in my life…

According to some friends, the pain is pretty comparable especially with the second piercing...
It is quite stressful at first, but you just have to relax and take the time to rediscover your sensations.
Personally, looking at the experience as a whole, I definitely prefer having them pierced.

I had one in my late 20's, and I don't recommend it. It never healed properly despite regular care and constantly got infected (I'll spare you the details). It did increase sensitivity, but left behind significant scarring.

Hatte noch zu Uni-Zeiten mal nen Seminarvortrag über Fouriertransformation zur Bildbearbeitung gehalten. Raster wie dieses sollten Peaks im Fourierspektrum sein, sich dort filtern lassen, und dann nach Rücktrafo weg sein. Weiß allerdings nicht, welches Tool sowas möglich macht!

@bodomenke hatte vor einigen Monaten mal mit Diffusion Bee auf macOS gespielt, was mit lokalen Modellen arbeitet. Da gab es auch so Reparaturtools. Lief auf nem M2 mit 16 Gigs „gut genug“. Installation war niederschwellig.
