Here’s a question I ask myself with genuine curiosity and worries about the first impression newbies get of the Fediverse: When people join the pixelfed.social server, they automatically follow @dansup. Am I the only person to find that weird and somehow unprofessional? #pixelfed #fediverse #pixelfedsocial

Its so the feed isn't empty, Mastodon does this too with Gargron (or used to)

Thanks for the explanation! I find it weird however. Isn’t there another way to make sure new people get their feed full with content (they actually chose to follow)?

@ueb_team161 If someone doesn't like this, they are free to unfollow him or choose a different server alltogether.

If I remember correctly, all people on chaos.social automatically follow the @@ordnung, so the local info channel. But I may be mistaken.

@zeitverschreib True too, and that’s what I did (I followed @dansup on mastodon instead because I’m interested in his work). However, I think if the Fediverse is to become a serious alternative for people who used to post on IG before, pixelfed.social is the most popular server to go to. There’s a weird off-taste to one personal account that everyone follows automatically on this big server, even if it’s the host Daniel who does such a great job at developing pixelfed etc.
