🚨Age verification seems to be unstoppable. 🚨
Following the Australian precedence, Greece & Brazil now also passed laws that will require age checks for social media.🇦🇺🇬🇷 🇧🇷
What’s sold as “online safety” means #surveillance via IDs checks or face scans.
Privacy & anonymity protect journalists, whistleblowers & activists.
We must fight against age verification - or the free web dies!

How can you force age verification to a Mastodon, NOSTR, EMail hosting site instance in Swiss or Sweden, that is accessible through onion address?
At least tell the Governments ask the Universities in their country for opinion.
If the kids are not protected in the platform that are actually owned by the "Five Eyes", does the governments think they will be safer on NOSTR or Mastodon where it is WWW?

Using identity wallets which use zero knowledge proofs (e.g. @yivi_privacybydesign), proving ‘being over 16’ can be done without one’s ID or any other PIID with a central server.
The point of being limited to governmental ID holders still mostly holds up though (although it shifts to e.g. EUDI wallet holders, which happen to not necessarily use zero knowledge proofs)

Sorry, Mum, I can't vacuum my room. That new Dyson is running some kind of Windows and it says I'm too young.

A brazilian bureaucrat once said it would be wonderful having a digital money at the time of Covid-19 pandemic - Drex - making possible to government restrict where a person could spend his money (english subtitles available in YouTube).
